The developments that we are currently seeing in Georgia are not going in the direction that the candidate countries should be going, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, told reporters ahead of a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, APA reports citing Interpressnews.
She said that sanctions and restrictions on visa-free travel will be discussed at today's meeting.
"So we are going to discuss the consequences of the Georgian authorities' use of repression against the opposition and all the tools that they are using there. So we are going to discuss what can we do from the European side. One issue is, of course, sanctions, and the other issue is also restrictions on visa-free travel," Kaja Kallas noted.
