The admission of foreign students to Georgia's public higher education institutions is expected to be regulated by law, APA’s local bureau reports.
This innovation is envisaged in the reforms planned to be implemented in the field of education in the country.
According to the new rules, public universities will be able to admit foreign students based on specific established principles. The goal is to direct higher education institutions to train specialists for the domestic market, rather than increasing their profits by attracting students from foreign countries.
Note that in the 2024-2025 academic year, the number of foreign students studying at universities in Georgia is 37,125. This figure is 6,424 more than the previous academic year.
The number of Azerbaijani citizens studying higher education in the neighboring country is 860. Of these, 376 are students of public universities and 484 are students of private universities.
