Village in Imereti region of Georgia placed under lockdown due to high risk of contagion

Village Ghvankiti in Terjola municipality of Imereti region, the western part of Georgia, put under lockdown and quarantined from 6:00 am today, APA reports citing Georgian Journal.

According to the local government, the decision was made to prevent the large-scale spread of the coronavirus.

Reportedly, 5 checkpoints have been set up, which will be patrolled by the police force.

“Yesterday, 4 more people tested positive for the coronavirus. There are a total of 10 infected people in the village,” Zviad Shalamberidze, Governor of Imereti region, said.

705 families with 2 438 people live in Ghvankiti village.
