European Parliament gives priority to cooperation with NATO

Brussels. Alexander Kin–APA. European Parliament Foreign Relations Committee recommended strengthening cooperation with NATO, said in the report prepared by parliamentarian Ari Vatanen, APA Brussels bureau chief reports. NATO plays a role of basis for European security, said in the document. The European Parliament considers that future collective defense of the European Union can be realized within the cooperation with NATO. Despite that some of the EU countries like Cyprus, Finland, Ireland, Malta and Sweden are not involved in NATO, the European parliament considers that all EU countries should attend the EU-NATO meetings. The draft report will be discussed at the February session of the European Parliament.
