Abdullah Gul: â€œMy family root is Muslim and Turkishâ€

Ankara â€“APA. Turkeyâ€™s president Abdullah Gul made his second written statement concerning the oppositionist member of the parliament Canan Aritman who calls Gulâ€™s mother an Armenian. Gul said his family was Muslim and Turkish, APA reports quoting the Turkish newspapers. â€œI am respecting ethnic roots, different faiths and family history of all peoples and seeing these differences as a reality and richness of our country being an Empire in the past. All of our citizens have equal rights not facing with the discriminations. Our Constitution provided everybody with the same rights. I felt responsibility to correct the recent open and latent false reports and to note for the history and to inform my dear nation about my family. My family has a Turkish and Muslim history throughout of hundreds years and is based on Satoglu and Gul families. Our family has an exact genealogy and official archive documents, which can be confirmed my compatriots from Kayseriâ€.
