Ankara – APA. New chairman of Turkish Historical Society has been appointed. APA reports that teacher of Turkish Police Academy, Professor Ali Birinci has been appointed to this post. Ali Birinci is reportedly close to Fetullah Gulen. He is known as a person supporting teacher of Gazi University Atilla Yayla, who insulted Ataturk. He also supported girls’ wearing headscarves in higher schools. Besides, Ali Birinci reportedly has good relations with Turkish President Abdullah Gul.
Previous Chairman of Turkish Historical Society Yusuf Halacoglu was dismissed a few days ago. It is officially stated that Halacoglu was dismissed, since his tenure expired, but he is reportedly dismissed, because he was against the expansion of the relations between Turkey and Armenia.
