Baku-APA. A citizen of Ireland Robin Grey was killed in an attack by unknown gunmen in Nigeria’s northern Taraba State, police authorities said Friday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

State police spokesperson Amos Olaoye identified the Irish national as an expatriate staff of PW Construction Company, the firm handling a major road construction project in the state.

"A police patrol team found the victim and his driver lying in the pool of their blood in an official Hilux van," said the senior cop, adding the police rushed the victims to a hospital before the foreign national finally gave up the ghost.

According to the police spokesperson, Grey was until his death the road construction firm’s project manager.

"The driver is responding to treatment in an hospital in the state," Olaoye said, assuring that the police will unravel the culprits who perpetrated the dastardly act.

The Irish national lost his life less than 24 hours after security authorities in Nigeria announced the release of four foreigners including a Malaysian, an Iranian, a Thai and an Indonesian abducted by gunmen in a ship in the West African country’s southeastern Rivers State.
