Work on Serbian section of South Stream pipeline to begin before year-end

Baku-APA. Construction on the Serbian section of the "South Stream" gas pipeline will begin before the end of this year, Serbian Minister of Energy Petar Skundric said Wednesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

A feasibility study on the 1.7-billion-euro (2.23-billion-U.S.-dollar) project, which aims to carry Russian gas under the Black Sea and through the Balkans to Western European markets, had been completed, Skundric said at the opening ceremony of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) meeting in Belgrade, Radio International Serbia reported.

The BSEC energy ministers were in Belgrade to discuss strategies to improve dialogue and cooperation on the development of the region’s gas infrastructure.

BSEC members include Russia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Moldova, Greece, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Albania and Serbia.
