The United States and Iran have agreed to a mutual ceasefire and plan to hold talks in Qatar's capital, Doha, on June 30 in an effort to resolve disagreements over the Strait of Hormuz, according to Axios.
Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that the two sides reached the ceasefire agreement ahead of the planned negotiations.
"A senior U.S. official said the United States and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire as they plan to meet Tuesday in Qatar's capital to resolve disagreements over the Strait of Hormuz," Ravid wrote.
According to the report, the meeting in Doha is expected to focus on reducing tensions surrounding the strategically important waterway and addressing outstanding issues between Washington and Tehran.
