The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed it carried out missile and drone strikes against U.S. military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to recent American attacks.
According to a statement broadcast by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, the IRGC said its naval and aerospace forces launched ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles during overnight operations on Sunday.
The statement said the attacks targeted eight U.S. military infrastructure sites, including the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the headquarters of the United States Fifth Fleet at Salman Port.
The IRGC also recalled that the United States had recently carried out strikes against five coastal positions belonging to the Islamic Republic.
The statement further asserted that, under the "Islamabad Memorandum," authority over navigation control in the Strait of Hormuz belongs to the Islamic Republic, warning that vessels violating the regulations would face stricter measures than before.
The IRGC warned that any future aggression, even against what it described as minor targets, would receive a "crushing response." It also said that any violation of the ceasefire would contradict the first article of the Islamabad Memorandum and could lead to the suspension of negotiations.
