Baku-APA. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday criticized Iran after it proposed to hold the new round of nuclear talks in Iraq or Syria, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his visiting Albanian counterpart Sali Berisha, Erdogan said that proposing Damascus or Baghdad as the venue for nuclear talks meant refraining from holding the meeting.

Stressing the "need to be honest," Erdogan said that "because of lack of honesty, (Iran) continues losing credibility in the world. It’s not a language of diplomacy. It’s a different language. "

Iran would benefit if the nuclear talks took place in the Turkish largest city of Istanbul, he said, "Because we will present a position for fair approach."

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said at a news conference in Saudi Arabia on Saturday that Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany, known as G5+1, had agreed on meeting in Istanbul next month to resume the stalled talks over Iran’s controversial nuclear program.

But Turkish officials said later that the decision on the venue was not made yet.

The coming resumption of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program came after a more-than-one-year deadlock since the last round of talks held in Istanbul in January 2011 ended up in vain.

The round before that, in late 2010, was in Geneva.
