Vietnam to host ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting soon

Baku-APA. Vietnam will host a meeting among defense ministers from members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the capital city of Hanoi from May 10 to 13, according to a press conference held here on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.
Under the theme "Strengthening ASEAN Defense Cooperation for a stability and development of the region", the fourth ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting (ADMM-4) is expected to gather defence ministers and senior defence officials from ten ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Secretariat.
Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Director of the General Politics Department of the Vietnam People’s Army Nguyen Tuan Dung said that the participants will review cooperation activities in defence sector of the ASEAN countries, share common interests on regional security and introduce defence policy of each country.
At the meeting, delegates are also expected to focus their discussions on and approval for two important documents to reach agreement on establishing ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus ( ADMM-Plus) including "ADMM-Plus: Structure and Participants", and "ADMM-Plus: Protocol and Procedure", said Dung.
The ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting is the highest ministerial defence and security consultative and cooperative mechanism in ASEAN. It provides a forum for defence dialogue and cooperation in each ASEAN country as well as in the ASEAN region as a whole.
