Baku-APA. Ukraine and Russia agreed to start actual work on demarcation of their land border and delimitation of the maritime boundary, APA reports quoting News.xinhuanet.com web-page.
"I believe Ukraine and Russia could find a mutually acceptable approach on the issue of delimitation of the Kerch Strait, Black Sea and Caspian Sea," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko told reporters after a meeting with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Saturday.
The two sides also discussed issues related to Russian Black Sea Fleet’s stationing in the territory of Ukraine, trans-boundary cooperation and customs clearance procedures, Hryschenko said.
"We agreed today that we will be tackling the issue of land border demarcation in a practical sense already this year. The discussion of the delimitation of the maritime boundary is advancing quite successfully," Lavrov said.
"We will start actual border demarcation work this year," he added.
Asked about a Ukrainian request for higher rent payment for Russian naval base in Crimea, Lavrov said that Russia is willing to consider any Ukraine’s proposals on cooperation.
Lavrov arrived here Friday for a two-day working visit to Kiev.
