SOCAR suspends exploration works

Baku. Agshin Rafigoglu - APA-Economics. “Our main shortage is lack of floating drilling rig. I say as a geologist that this prevents our works”, SOCAR Vice-President Khoshbakht Yusifzade.

According to him, the exploration works have been suspended: “Therefore, we are waiting for floating drilling rig for exploitation of Absheron, Zafar-Meshel and other fields. First floating drilling rig will be made in 2018. Our three floating drilling rigs are used by BP for subsea drilling works on Shahdeniz-2. This is for our common work. We cannot do anything after subsea drilling extended. Therefore, the exploration works are suspended”.
