SOCAR: Gazprom may use Azerbaijani pipelines to deliver gas to Iran

Baku. Aqshin Rafiqoglu – APA-Economics. Russia’s Gazprom may use Azerbaijani pipelines to deliver gas to Iran, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told reporters on Friday.

The SOCAR president said the Azerbaijan side has not yet been made such a proposal.

“They can use our pipelines. There has been no such proposal. We are trying to carry out swap operations with Gazprom,” he said.

Note that, the Russian newspaper Kommersant earlier had said Gazprom may deliver natural gas to Iran through Azerbaijani territory, and that Russian and Iranian delegations have reached such an agreement. Russia’s Minister of Energy Alexander Novak said Russia offers the Iranians swap operations.
