Baku - APA-Economics. Georgian opposition has protested against the contract for the sale-purchase of Russian gas signed by Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and commercial director of Gazco + company Georgy Mamaladze.
The opposition was not aware of signing of this document. According to the contract, in 2016 Gazprom will supply up to 100 million cubic meters to Gasco +. Contract is valid from July 1 to December 31, 2016 with an option for extension.
Roman Gotsiridze, former president of the National Bank of Georgia, supporter of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili, says the government intends to hand over the country Gazprom: “Russian giant has not been selling gas to Georgia for long time. Its return to Georgian market is unacceptable and threatens strategic cooperation with Azerbaijan”.
First Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze said the government is not concerned with that contract.
Dimitry Kumsishvili, Georgian Vice-Prime Minister and Minister for Economy and Sustainable Development also said the matter is about contract signed between two commercial companies.
Gotsiridze claims that both officials lie: “Gas transportation is only possible via state-owned Russia-Georgia-Armenia pipeline and it’s impossible government to be unaware of it”.
SOCAR Energy Georgia Director General Mahir Mammadov said Gazprom’s gas transportation to Gazco+ will not affect SOCAR.
