US State Department has sent a notification to Congress on the extension of the period of exemption from the application of restrictions provided for in Amendment 907 of the "Freedom Support Act" regarding Azerbaijan, APA reports citing information from official documents of the US Congress.
According to the document, the State Department submitted the relevant notification to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on July 28 and to the House Foreign Relations Committee on August 10.
It should be noted that Amendment 907 was adopted in 1992 and imposed restrictions on the provision of direct US assistance to Azerbaijan.
