Israel believes the Hezbollah violated the ceasefire in southern Lebanon, according to a statement by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, APA reports.
Earlier on August 15, the Israeli army announced that it had struck Hezbollah infrastructure near the city of Nabatieh and the village of Ansar in southern Lebanon. The army's press service stated that this was "in response to actions" by Hezbollah militias against Israeli forces in the Ali al-Tahir mountain range in southern Lebanon.
"This morning, Hezbollah violated the ceasefire in Lebanon by attacking our troops in the security zone protecting Israeli towns just across the border. Three of our soldiers were seriously wounded in the Hezbollah attack. The IDF responded by striking the Hezbollah terror headquarters from which the attack was ordered," Netanyahu's office stated.
According to the Israeli side, "only later did the IDF learn that Hezbollah had deliberately placed civilians in this military complex." "Hezbollah is prepared to do anything, including using its own civilians as human shields, to falsely accuse Israel of deliberately targeting civilians, something the IDF clearly did not do," the statement asserted.
