Ukrainian FP-5 “Flamingo“ missiles struck industrial aerospace enterprises in Samara, Russia, on Saturday, Aug. 15, amid concurrent drone attacks in occupied Crimea, Kyiv Post reports.
Following the explosions in Samara, Denis Shtilerman, chief designer at the Ukrainian defense company Fire Point, published footage of an FP-5 “Flamingo” missile launch.
Samara region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported a missile strike on an unnamed industrial facility in the city. Mayor Ivan Noskov stated that the city’s industrial infrastructure sustained localized damage.
Open-source intelligence analysts from the Astra and Exilenova+ Telegram channels reviewed images of the site and identified the location as the shared industrial zone of the Aviakor aviation plant and the Progress Space Rocket Centre.
Progress, a subsidiary of the Russian state corporation Roscosmos, manufactures Soyuz-2 carrier rockets and space satellites. Aviakor produces, repairs, and maintains aircraft and aviation components.
In a separate development on Saturday morning, local residents reported explosions and drone activity in occupied Crimea, specifically in Sevastopol and the Bakhchysarai district.
The “Crimean Wind” Telegram channel reported power outages in Sevastopol and a fire in the Balaklava area following the explosions. Russian occupation authorities have not issued a statement regarding the incident.
