Gazprom: Questionable issue with BOTAS may be solved prior to court

“Appeal to the court of arbitration is one of versions provided in the formal contract.this is normal. Now, the issue the version of solution of the issue prior to the court”, Kupriyanov said.

Gazprom spokesman noted that Russia may reduce price of gas transported to Turkey.

According to Bloomberg, Turkey raised a claim against Gazprom in the international court of arbitrage due to disagreement in price.

Since December 29, 2014, BOTAS has been demanding reconsideration of price of natural gas purchased from Russia. Both countries agreed on reduction of gas prices in 2014, but this issue was depended on construction of Turkish Stream pipeline. In July, the negotiations on construction of Turkish Stream were frozen due to Russia did not make discount.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Ali RÄ±za Alaboyun told Dogan news agency that they applied to the court on October 26: “We noted that the prices are high and demanded discount. At first we agreed with Russian side. However, agreement was not signed while the negotiations came to an end in accordance with the contract. We were in correspondence during the past month. But it did not yield result. We had a right to apply to arbitrage in a certain timeframe and we used it. We demanded the price of gas to be same with the prices in Europe”.
