SOCAR proposes the creation of joint consortia in the Caspian Sea in the field of renewable energy with neighboring countries, SOCAR’s Vice President, Afghan Isayev, said during his speech at the "Baku Energy Forum,"APA-Economics reports.
He stated that the regional consortium model, which has been successfully implemented in the oil and gas sector, can also be applied to renewable energy in the Caspian Sea. This will reduce costs and accelerate the process.
Afghan Isayev also touched upon the logistics and infrastructure difficulties faced by SOCAR in wind energy projects: “We do not have direct access to open seas. The blades of wind turbines start at 92 meters and are getting longer. Transporting and installing them is a difficult process. Also, special vessels are required for this work, which we need to produce here.”
