It has been proposed to relocate the Oil Refinery outside of Baku, APA reports.
The Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense, Security, and Counter-Corruption, Gudrat Hasanguliyev made this proposal during a public discussion on "Energy Efficiency: Results and Expectations" held at the Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources, Energy, and Ecology.
Gudrat Hasanguliyev noted that unpleasant odors are frequently noticed in the capital: “When will the Oil Refinery be moved out of the city? God forbid, if an accident happens, it will be impossible to breathe in the city.”
The MP also proposed the privatization of power plants and SOCAR.
The Head of the Industry and Energy Department of the Cabinet of Ministers, Elshan Hajizade, stated during the discussion that there are two scenarios regarding this issue: “One is the modernization project. This involves either relocating the plant or advancing it towards the second phase of development. Both scenarios are being considered. If we build a new plant, it is planned for 2030-2031.”
The department head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that the plant's relocation is planned by 2030.
