"Azerbaijan has been a reliable oil supplier to Germany for many years. Since this year, natural gas has added a new dimension to the energy partnership," Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov said during his speech at the “German-Azerbaijani Strategic Partnership and Connectivity Conference 2026” held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, Germany’s Uniper, SEFE and VNG companies currently purchase Azerbaijani gas: “Looking ahead, our priority is to further develop this partnership in the areas of renewable energy, energy connectivity, energy efficiency and the broader energy transition. Azerbaijan’s 157-gigawatt offshore wind energy potential in the Caspian Sea, 8 gigawatts of wind and solar projects planned by 2032, Central Asia’s vast renewable energy resources, and strategic electricity interconnectors also offer important opportunities for Europe’s energy security and energy transition. Our goal is to connect this potential to European markets through several complementary routes — the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor, the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Corridor, and westward links to Türkiye and Europe via Georgia and Nakhchivan. The TRIPP project also offers additional potential here."
