Kazakhstan is ready to increase oil transportation through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline to 2.2 million tons per year, Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov stated in a comment to journalists on the sidelines of the 31st Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to the minister, Kazakhstan is considering all available routes for the export of its oil.
“We have planned a volume of 1.5 million tons per year. We are ready to increase this figure to 2.2 million tons. This possibility is also envisaged in the protocol, and even higher transportation volumes are possible,” E. Akkenzhenov emphasized.
He noted that there is technical capacity to transport larger volumes of oil through the Port of Aktau.
According to the minister, decisions regarding the expansion of export routes will also depend on the technical capabilities of partners. At the same time, until existing constraints are removed, Kazakhstan will continue redirecting oil flows to alternative ports and terminals.
