Azerbaijan’s losses in oil pipelines increased by up 28%

There was a loss of 0,9 thousand tons in oil pipelines in Azerbaijan in January-March of this year, which is 28.6 % more in annual comparison, the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan told APA-Economics.

The loss in the oil pipelines across the republic made up 0.7 thousand tons during the corresponding period of the previous year.

In January-March of this year, 9.664 thousand tons of oil were transported through main oil pipelines in Azerbaijan, which is 1.72% more compared to the annual figure. 75.2% of the transportation was carried out via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline (BTC), through which 7,267.2 thousand tons of oil were transferred during the reporting period, which is 0.3% more compared to the annual figure.

Recall that last year in Azerbaijan, there was a loss of 3,8 thousand tons in oil pipelines, which is 31% higher annually. In 2023, 39,753.2 thousand tons of oil were transported through main pipelines, which is 5.2% more in annual comparison. 75.9% of the transportation was carried out by BTC, and last year, 30,191.6 thousand tons of oil were transferred through this pipeline, which means an annual increase of 1.49%.
