An agreement has been signed between Azerbaijan and China, APA reports.
During his visit to Ningbo, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with Xu Lu, Vice President of China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited (CEEC).
The sides discussed the implementation of the Action Plan under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement in the energy sector signed between the Ministry of Energy and CEEC in June of this year. The cooperation agenda includes electricity planning and grid studies in Azerbaijan, establishment of a Joint Green Energy Research Center, projects for hydro, solar, and offshore wind power plants, as well as initiatives for developing "green energy" interconnectors. Progress and planned steps for each project were reviewed during the meeting.
As part of the visit, the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and the Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute (EPPEI) of the People’s Republic of China signed the “Agreement on the Study of Azerbaijan’s Power Transmission Network.” The agreement aims to support the development of the country’s transmission grid in line with Azerbaijan’s renewable energy targets for 2030 and beyond, with EPPEI providing technical consultancy services.
Under the agreement, EPPEI will conduct modeling and simulation based on the current state of Azerbaijan's electricity system, analyze grid research, forecast energy demand for the target years, and prepare recommendations for integrating large-scale renewable energy sources. A Working Group involving relevant Azerbaijani institutions will be established to oversee the agreement’s implementation.
