"Realizing the region’s vast renewable energy potential is critically important for achieving energy transition goals. This requires enormous volumes of investment," Türkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said while speaking at the 31st Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, one of the main and decisive factors for implementing these investments is securing financing.
“To mobilize investments, we must strengthen energy infrastructure and establish predictable and reliable regulatory frameworks,” the minister noted.
He emphasized that Türkiye is not merely an observer of the energy transition process. The country is actively building a new energy architecture.
“As of March this year, Türkiye’s total installed power generation capacity has exceeded 125 gigawatts. As mentioned earlier, more than 60% of this capacity comes from renewable energy sources,” Alparslan Bayraktar stressed.
He added that the country’s achievements in wind and solar energy clearly demonstrate what sound policies can accomplish. Over the past twenty years, Türkiye’s total installed wind and solar energy capacity has increased from almost zero to more than 41 gigawatts.
