Azerbaijan posts 34.5% fall in industrial production for January

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA-Economics. Azerbaijanâ€™s industrial production stood at AZN 1 323.9 million for January, down 34.5% on a year ago, said the countryâ€™s top body.
The State Statistical Committee said the fall was 6.9% in extractive industry as well as 8% in oil sector while there was a 17.3% growth in gas production.
The growth was 6.7% in processing industry, 3.9% in foodstuff production, 7.9% in oil refining, 16.5% in construction materials production, 2.2 times in paper and print products making, 2.9 times in machine and equipment making, 46% in electronics and optical devices production, 11.1% in vehicle production.
Electricity generation dropped by 8.6%. Industrial production was made 61.2% in extractive industry, 29.4% in processing and 9.4% in production and distribution of electricity, gas and water.
