Belarus Ambassador: Buying Azerbaijani oil has lost its topicality

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. In the context of the global financial crisis, Belarusâ€™ buying oil from Azerbaijan is economically unfavorable, said the Ambassador of Belarus to Azerbaijan Nikolai Patzkevich.
According to the diplomat, Belarus currently produces 1.7-1.8 million tonnes of oil a year, but a record of 7.5 million tonnes was achieved a few years ago.
â€œAt present Belarus processes all its oil and uses 35% of oil products for the domestic needs of the country. A new oil field was discovered in Belarus in December. It is not yet known how much oil it will produce,â€ he added.
According to him while despite ongoing negotiations on the purchase of Azerbaijani crude oil between the two countries continues, the question has last its relevance.
â€œIt is economically unfavorable to buy oil amid the financial crisis,â€ he added.
