Azerbaijani Foreign Minister informs Belgian counterpart about Baku-Yerevan peace agreement process-UPDATED

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and the Federal Cultural Institutions Hadja Lahbib in the margins of the Eastern Partnership Ministerial Meeting on December 11, 2023, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

During the meeting, views on the issues on the agenda of bilateral relations and the current regional situation were exchanged.

Giving information about the latest processes in the region, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov underlined that there is a wide potential for achieving real progress in the peace process after the termination of the presence of the Armenian armed forces in the territories of Azerbaijan as a result of the anti-terrorist measures carried out in the region in September of this year. The minister informed the other side about recent steps that establish peace, stability, and trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Views were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest during the meeting.

"Good to speak with my Azerbaijani colleague," Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and the Federal Cultural Institutions Hadja Lahbib wrote on X, as she met with Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs, APA reports.

"Belgium stands firmly behind efforts for a peaceful & comprehensive resolution with Armenia, fostering stability in the region," she added.

They also discussed EU-Azerbaijan relations and ways to reinforce bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
