UK Government cannot influence on British companies operating in occupied territories of Azerbaijan

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov-APA. UK Government cannot interfere in the affairs of British companies operating in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, Lord Digby Jones, Minister for Trade and Investment at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, who is visiting Azerbaijan said, APA reports. He said that according to the legislation of the United Kingdom, the government has no power to interfere in the activity of private companies.
“If our companies have humanitarian activity in the conflict region, I support it. If the companies start business, I can say that our government does not interfere in the affairs of business establishments,” he said.
Asked how British companies participate in the sanctions imposed on Iran, the minister said:
“This is realized basing on the UN resolution.”
When journalists mentioned that UN had adopted four resolutions in connection with the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia, Lord Digby Jones said:
“If any resolution envisages such sanctions, British companies will fulfill them,” he said.
