Israel intends to purchase 12 billions cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan within 10 years

He said main goal of his visit to Azerbaijan was to participate in the Caspian Oil and Gas -2008 Exhibition and to negotiate the gas transportation from Azerbaijan to Israel. The Minister said he had held very useful negotiations and added that Israel imported 45 per cent of its oil supply from Azerbaijan. â€œWe are working on the project, which will cover 25-30 years of gas transportation from Azerbaijan to Israel. We are discussing the technical details nowâ€. The Minister didnâ€™t go to the details of the negotiations and said Israel intended to purchase 12 billions cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan within 10 years. â€œUsefulness of this project is studied now and it will take three years to construct pipeline from Turkey to Israel. Israel thinks to start gas import from Azerbaijan in 2012. Azerbaijan and Israel are small, but powerful countriesâ€. Benjamin Ben-Eliezer considers that gas project to be signed will play a role of guarantee for peace and stability in the Middle East. The minister said he called on the Azerbaijani companies at the Caspian Oil and Gas conference today to attend the tender for the gas export to Israel in the end of this year. Winner of the tender will supply Israel with natural gas for 30 years.
