Annexes and amendments to draft law on Freedom of Assembly of Azerbaijan restrict power of the police

Organizations considered appeals on the site of assembly should base restrictions with proper Articles and international conventionsâ€, Latif Huseynov, Azerbaijani representative to the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe told APA.
The expert spoke about the draft law on Freedom of Assembly to be discussed at the meeting of MM tomorrow and noted that the document coincided with European standards and all legal security measures were taken into account for the implementation of freedom of assembly. Asked about the sites of assemblies, Huseynov noted that proper body would prepare the list of local and central executive powers on the prohibitive sites.
â€œThere is not directly prohibition in the lawâ€, he said. Huseynov added that 15 articles of draft law on Freedom of Assembly would be annexed and amended and noted that he did not face based remark on it.
â€œAnnexes and amendments restrict power of the police. It means that force on attendees of assembly will be limited by means of these Articles. The draft law envisages that action of police should be balanced to purpose of itâ€, he said.
