“We reflected the figures in Rasulzadeh’s life in this project, because monuments or mausoleums should have their own meaning alongside with the look. Motives of Turkish rugs are described on the columns. The height of the columns coincides with the sum of the fifth month added to the historical figure 28, and this makes 2.85m. The rope on the columns is the symbol of eight-pointed star on Azerbaijan’s national tricolor flag. The height of the tombstone is 34cm – Rasulzadeh was 34 when he declared Azerbaijan People’s Republic. The highest point of the grave’s side is 71cm – Rasulzadeh died at this age. The grave is made of soft marble and red granite. Much attention has been paid to the harmony of carvings and stones. I prepared its model long ago. Rasulzadeh’s grave has been protected by Azerbaijan Cultural Society since 1995. We repaired the grave twice, but all wished to establish a mausoleum there. I believe that we have achieved our goal,†he said.
Chairman of Azerbaijan Cultural Society Cemil Unal underlined that Mahammad Amin Rasulzadeh, the founder of the first republic in the East, had a special place in the history.
Wreath was laid before the monument on behalf of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The opening ceremony was followed by the symposium “90 anniversary of Azerbaijan People’s Republic and general view to the Turkic world†in Dedeman hotel, Ankara. The participants will make speeches on the theme at the symposium organized by BAK-TURK Federation.
