Umid Party considers the Electoral Code submitted to the Parliament as a step back

Baku. Ramil Mammadliâ€“APA. Umid Party has held round table on annexes and amendments to the Electoral Code. The partyâ€™s executive official Nasimi Mammadli said they considered the election code submitted to the Parliament as a step back, APA reports. He said the elections on the basis of this law would negatively impact on the international image of Azerbaijan. The partyâ€™s representative in the Central Election Commission Akif Gurbanli said no changes have been made in the important points of the Electoral Code to be discussed at the Parliament. â€œBan on the campaign on the national television restricts the rights of candidatesâ€. ADP Deputy Chairman Taliyat Aliyev blamed international organizations in this issue. He said Venice Commission, OSCE and other international organizations donâ€™t react to the anti-democratic changes in the Electoral Code. â€œThen they will say that they regret of such kind of Electoral Code. Generally work of Venice Commission does nothing for this issueâ€.
