Azadliq alliance Assembly holds meeting
The member of the Assembly Nureddin Mammadli expressed dissatisfaction with the activity of political parties. He said that compared with NGOs, press and foreign embassies parties do not fulfill their duties well enough. Representative of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Elchin Gambarov offered to prepare bulletins about the activity of opposition and shortcomings of authorities and deliver to the people. Member of Citizen and Development Party Hikmet Hajiyev said that people worry about possible confrontation between Lale Shovket and Ali Kerimli on the eve of presidential elections.
“The two candidates would better announce the measures they will take in presidential elections,†he said.
Former MP NIzami Guliyev offered to add the problem of establishing independent television among the activities.
“We cannot achieve serious results without independent television,†he said.
Leader of Citizen and Development Party Ali Aliyev said there are real opposition and opposition close to authorities.
Leader of National Unity Party Lale Shovket took a stance on Nizami Guliyev’s offer. She noted that television helps in many problems but it is possible to struggle without television. Commenting on the problem of presidential elections, Lale Shovket said some expect crisis between Ali Kerimli and her.
“Some tried to create such crisis but in vain. We will not allow any separation until the presidential elections,†she said.
The activities were unanimously adopted at the end of the meeting. The document envisages establishment of united power center, cooperation with other opposition parties and NGOs, improving election legislation, restoration of freedom of peaceful assembly, solution of social problems and taking continuous measures in other spheres. /APA/
