Azerbaijani parliamentarians comment on repayment of Soviet-era bank savings

Baku – APA. At today sitting of the Azerbaijani Parliament MP Fazil Mustafa criticized the sale policy of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, APA reports. The parliamentarian said the prices of the tickets for various flights were increased without any explanation.

“The ticket for Baku-Antalya flight cost AZN 300, now it is AZN 800. What is the reason of the increase?” he said.

The parliamentarian also commented on the decree on payment of compensations to Azerbaijani citizens for the lost Soviet-era bank savings.
“It is not just that only 10 percent of the Soviet-era bank savings will be paid out,” he said.

During the discussion of the government’s report, deputy chairman of the parliament’s committee on social policy Musa Guliyev raised an issue regarding the compulsory medical insurance. He said the facilities, which the government bodies plan to inspect, are informed about the inspection two days before, this makes such inspections ineffective.

Parliamentarian Musa Gasimli praised the activity of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

“The government bodies should take this ministry for a model, open their doors for the people,” he said.

He also offered to adopt a state program on the population growth. Musa Gasimli’s another proposal was connected with the development of souvenir industry.

“Baku, Azerbaijan is not written on the souvenirs. How will we prove that these souvenirs, carpets are made in Azerbaijan?” he said.

Chairman of the Justice Party Ilyas Ismayilov said there will be problems in repayment of Soviet-era savings.

“The main problem will appear while paying out the savings to the internally displaced persons. Their documents remained in the occupied territories,” he said.

MP Gular Ahmadova spoke about the problems in the construction sector. She said while buying flats in the newly-constructed buildings, people must demand insurance of the flats.

MP Ali Masimli said 50 percent of the oil and gas revenues in Russia is spent on salaries, while 17 percent of oil and gas revenues in Azerbaijan is spent on salaries.
