“There are no such circumstances that could justify the use of force against civilians,” he said in a statement circulated by his press secretary on Tuesday. “Civilians should not be hurt in any event. It must be a chief task for both the authorities and the opposition, for all conflicting parties. People from both sides - the protesters and law enforcers - have been killed and injured in street clashes. Human casualties are an inadmissible price for political mistakes.”
He urged to “stop bloodshed in Kiev’s streets” and called on the conflicting parties “to get back to the negotiating process and never stop until a way out of the profound political crisis in Ukraine is finally found.
