Kazakhstan has cut production at its main oil and gas field, Karachanak, by 25-30% after a Ukrainian drone attack on a large gas processing plant in Russia's Orenburg region, APA reports, citing Reuters.
According to the report, the Kazakh Energy Ministry confirmed that the Orenburg gas processing plant had stopped receiving gas after being attacked by Ukrainian drones.
According to the Russian publication Orenday, a fire broke out at the plant today. The cause of the incident is a drone attack. Several workshops of the plant were damaged as a result of the attack and a fire broke out, but no workers were injured. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated.
The Orenburg gas processing plant, which has been operating since 1974, is one of the largest gas and chemical complexes in the world and is owned by Gazprom. The plant has been processing Kazakh gas for many years. Its shutdown is already seriously affecting Kazakhstan's production.
