“Russia’s Ural region is under direct threat," said Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, during a meeting held in the Ural Federal District, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, the Ural region, which until recently could not be targeted by air strikes from Ukraine, is now located in a directly dangerous zone.
Shoigu emphasized that the development of weapons, primarily unmanned systems, is such that any region of the Russian Federation is under threat.
He added that in 2025, air attacks on Russian infrastructure from Ukraine increased nearly fourfold: “Ukraine continues to attempt sabotage and terrorist attacks in Russia. In 2025, 1,830 terrorist attacks were carried out in Russia, which is 40% more than in 2024 and 6.5 times more than in 2023. The enemy is actively using information and psychological warfare, including through the internet, to influence the Russian population. Against the backdrop of events in the Middle East, threats to critical infrastructure are becoming more realistic and larger in scale. The main targets of Kyiv’s attacks are military, transport, and fuel-energy facilities in the Russian Federation.”
