Washington’s failure to respond to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal to maintain restrictions after the expiration of the START treaty is also a response, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
According to him, Russia will not take any steps until the treaty expires.
The deputy minister stressed that Russia is ready for a new reality in which there will be no arms restrictions after the START treaty expires: “There is no reason to dramatize this.”
In the diplomat’s view, without a fundamental revision of Washington’s hostile course, dialogue between Russia and the United States on strategic stability is impossible: “For arms control talks to become multilateral, France and the United Kingdom must join them. China has a clear position on arms control, and Russia treats it with respect, just as Beijing treats Moscow’s position with respect.
Moscow and Beijing agree that the main reason for the collapse of the previous strategic security system is Washington’s unilateral actions.”
