Alexei Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation has ruled out the introduction of restrictive measures against Armenia at the Eurasian Economic Union summit to be held in Astana, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
Overchuk said the situation regarding Armenia’s plans to join the European Union creates uncertainty for Russian investors.
“Of course, we are not pleased with this and are working to define our economic relations as soon as possible. Nevertheless, Yerevan is well aware of both the scope of the advantages and the trade volume with other EAEU member states,” the Russian deputy prime minister noted.
Overchuk stressed that Armenia is actively working on transitioning to European standards and technical regulations: “In this regard, the risks that may arise will also be discussed at the EAEU leaders’ summit to be held in Kazakhstan.”
It should be noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not attend the EAEU summit in Astana.
