The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan began with expanded talks involving members of both delegations, the Kremlin said in its statement regarding the Putin–Erdoğan meeting held in Ashgabat, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
It was noted that the leaders emphasized that relations between Russia and Türkiye are developing well in all areas.
It was stated that the multifaceted and multidimensional nature of Russia–Türkiye relations, particularly in trade and economic matters, makes it possible to overcome international challenges and pressure from third countries.
It was emphasized that the agenda of the two countries includes many major joint projects, primarily the continuation of the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.
“An in-depth exchange of views was also held on Ukraine, as well as regional and international issues. Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan discussed Europe’s attempts to seize Russian assets. The Russian president gave a well-known assessment of these attempts. The parties agreed that such ill-considered actions by Europeans would lead to the collapse of the principles of the Bretton Woods system and the international financial system. Russia–Türkiye talks then continued in a restricted format. Later, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif joined the meeting,” the Kremlin statement said.
