The Kremlin has acknowledged that the objectives of the “special military operation” (SVO) have not been fully achieved, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
Russian President’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that many of the goals of the special military operation have been accomplished.
“The main objective is to ensure the security of people living in eastern Ukraine who were and continue to be under a real, deadly threat. That is the key goal. However, the objectives have not been fully achieved, which is why the special military operation continues. At the same time, Russia remains open to achieving its goals through political and diplomatic means. Work in this direction is also ongoing. In any case, Russia’s interests will be secured,” Peskov said.
Responding to a question about whether there is still hope for resolving the conflict through negotiations, the Kremlin spokesperson stated:
“This hope has never left us. From the very beginning, efforts were made to resolve this peacefully. An agreement was prepared, but after Britain’s interference in the peace process, the issue returned to the military track. We continue our efforts for peace. Our position is clear and consistent.”
Peskov emphasized that everything now depends on Ukraine’s actions.
