Fight occurs at Yerevan city council session - VIDEO

The situation became tense at some point during today's session of the Yerevan Council of Elders, and a fight broke out, News.am reports.

At first, Yerevan Deputy Mayor Armen Pambukhchyan, who was chairing the session, addressed the members of the opposition Mother Armenia faction and said: "Honestly, if I were you, I would be so smart to keep quiet. The second number on your [electoral] list is accused of state treason. You go and think about your leader, who is accused of state treason, and don't jump up and down from your seats during speeches. You will be silent during speeches. Shut up!"

There were reactions from the opposing seats, to which the deputy mayor responded in a harsher way

Subsequently, a fight broke out between the opposition Mother Armenia and the pro-government Civil Contract factions.

Then, Pambukhchyan called for Yerevan Council of Elders’ opposition member Gevorg Stepanyan and several others to be taken out of the sessions’ hall.
