As a result of the drone strike on the Orenburg gasification plant by Ukraine, Kazakhstan suffered losses of about $200 million, Kazakh energy expert Olzhas Baydildinov told Sputnik Kazakhstan, APA reports.
According to the expert, the losses concern both the Karachaganak Petroleum Operating consortium, which cooperates with the plant, as well as the Kazakh government and consumers.
“According to my calculations, this is a total loss of about $200 million — for the consortium, Kazakhstan and consumers,” Baydildinov noted.
He added that the gas extracted from the Karachaganak field is sent to the Orenburg plant for processing and returned purified after processing. After the drone attack, Kazakhstan temporarily suspended gas supplies to the Orenburg gasification plant.
“This blow will definitely affect tariffs, and we will feel it ourselves,” the expert said.
