The leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) believe that a nationwide referendum should be held in Armenia on joining the European Union or remaining in the EAEU, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
This was stated in a declaration on Armenia published on the Kremlin’s website by the leaders of Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.
The statement particularly noted that members of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will present a report in December on the possible consequences for Armenia of suspending the EAEU Treaty.
It was stated that the leaders support holding a referendum in Armenia on joining the European Union or remaining in the EAEU.
The declaration also emphasized that Armenia’s preparations for EU membership create serious risks to the economic security of EAEU member states.
