The framework agreement on strategic cooperation between Armenia and the United States concerning the TRIPP project, initialed today by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, primarily defines the implementation mechanism of the TRIPP project, stated in the text of the framework agreement published by the Armenian Foreign Ministry, APA reports.
One of the key provisions concerning Azerbaijan is the planned establishment of a transport connection through Armenian territory between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The document envisages the development of unimpeded multimodal transit through Armenia under the TRIPP project, including road, railway, energy and communication lines. The United States plans to provide technical, financial and infrastructure support for the project.
The agreement stresses that border and customs control will remain under Armenia’s sovereignty, although private operators are expected to be used at border crossing points.
Overall, the project aims to turn the South Caucasus into one of the key logistics hubs connecting Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East.
