Russia To Introduce Color-Coded Security Alerts

Baku – APA. Russia’s parliament on Friday voted in favor of a color-coded security alert system, similar to the system the United States has decided to abandon, APA reports quoting “The Voice of America”.
Lawmakers unanimously approved the three-color system which sets blue as the lowest alert level, moving up to yellow and red.
The proposal comes just days after a suspected suicide bomber detonated a bomb at the international arrivals terminal at Moscow’s busiest airport, killing 35 people and injuring more than 100 others.
Friday’s vote is the first of three rounds of voting needed to pass the bill.
Lawmakers on Friday also passed the third and final bill on police reform. The law aims to streamline the police force, clarify its authority and increase its accountability.
The United States on Thursday moved to phase out its color-tabbed security warning system by April. Instead there will be a two-tiered alert system, indicating whether there is an “elevated” risk level or an “imminent” threat.
