Yerevan mayor beats employee of the Armenian presidentâ€™s protocol service

Baku â€“ APA. Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan strongly criticized Yerevan mayor Gagik Beglaryan, who attacked an employee of the presidentâ€™s protocol service. Spokesperson for the president Armen Arzumanyan read his statement, APA reports quoting Interfax agency.

â€œThe president expressed his opinion on such incident many times. This is unacceptable and intolerable behavior, particularly regarding the government workerâ€, said Sargsyanâ€™s spokesperson.

Armenia Today reported about the incident between Yerevan mayor and the presidentâ€™s protocol officer Aram Kandayan, who was beaten by the mayor. The incident took place on December 3 during the Domingoâ€™s concert when Kandayan asked the Beglaryanâ€™s wife, who sit next to the president, to change her seat arguing that only the government officials can sit next to each other. The mayor, who was informed by his wife about that, ordered to take Kandayan to Metax plant and beat him there.

Spokesperson for the Armenian president Armen Arzumanyan said there was small incident between Beglaryan and Kandayan. â€œThe incident was inflated by the press. He was not kidnapped and beatenâ€.

Beglaryan resigned from the office, Interfax reported quoting the sources at the Yerevan mayorâ€™s office.
